Chinese jump rope is a game which resembles hopscotch. This game is popular all over the world. It helps to keep kids active and to develop their agility. You can play this game either outdoors or indoors.
What is Needed to Play Chinese Jump Rope?
- A string of elastic band of 6 feet length that has been tied in a circle. You can buy a ready one, it is very cheap and you can find it in any shop where goods for children are sold. Or you can make it yourself.
- Flat surface for jumping. It is not recommended to play the Chinese jump rope on the grass because it may cause some damages like turned ankles.
- Comfortable sport shoes and appropriate clothes.
How Many Persons Can Play Chinese Jump Rope?
There should be at least 3 persons to play this game. First, there are 2 holders and one jumper. And they change their roles according to the rules of the game. It is also possible for 4 persons to play.
How to Play Chinese Jump Rope.
Choose the person who will be the first to jump. 2 other persons become rope holders. They face each other inside the rope. It should be placed around the ankles. The rope holders stand at some distance from each other so that the rope could be taut. So, there are 2 parallel lines of rope; the distance between them should be about 30 cm. The player stands outside the rope. For a jumper the game lasts till he makes a mistake or a pause.
5 Main Chinese Jump Rope Steps.
There are main steps in the rules of the game which are described in easy words: in, on, out, side out (right or left), straddle out, side-by-side, etc.
Jump inside the rope so that both feet were between the lines.
Jump both feet on the top of the lines.
Jump both feet to the outside of the rope so that lines are either to the left or to the right from your legs.

Jumping side-by-side means that one of your feet remains outside the rope and then you change the position.
